Platelets Origami Tessellation

I fiddled with this one a lot. I had the single shape quickly and how to repeat it was pretty obvious. However, execution wa a bit tricky. 

I've been having family issues that make really enjoying origami difficult. 

At the same time, it's a refuge of sorts. A way to shut off my thoughts and just concentrate on a singular, benign idea. 

The pattern kinda feels familiar and different at the same time. 

I don't think I've folded this exact tessellation before now. I've certainly done similar ones.So many tessellations are just reimagining similar structures.  

Whether or not someone else has folded/designed it, I don't know. Although, I seem to have cornered the market on very densely crowded tesses.

Infinite Triangles Origami Tessellation

This is just a flash idea I had. There was no planning involved. No inspiration. I just started folding and followed the lure of the creases in the paper.  Upon seeing the finished result, It kind of reminds me of Robin Scholz's Triphilia tessellation, but the construction is definitely different and I was not thinking of that as I was crafting it. The similarity is that you can arrange the layering of the triangles into different patterns of your choice.  I went looking and discovered  I had folded this a few years ago and called it Triangle Temptations . I didn't realize this until after I'd completed this model.  Apparently, according to my original post, I'd seen someone else fold it on flickr and recreated it.  This happens sometimes. You hit on an idea and it's something you've done and forgotten. Herringbone Tessellation

Messing around with rhombuses yielded this interesting pattern. It utilizes reverse rabbit ear folds to create triangular points which connect the running rows of rhombus twists. The triangles form in the spaces between the rhombuses. Then there are mirror triangles to facilitate the the next row.  It kinda looks and folds like a square grid tessellation even though it's done using a triangle grid.  It's a fairly easy fold.  I do have a crease pattern. Solving Tessellation Hubble by GatheringFolds

 This is another tessellation designed by gatheringfolds that I reverse engineered and then folded. She calls it 'Hubble'. After the telescope, I'm guessing.  It was neither very easy nor very hard to figure out. The central array of seven hexagons was easy enough to determine. As were the triangle twists around them. I did get stuck for a little bit on the next layer. The two different kinds of connections that the rhombuses had to the hexagons took some fiddling to determine.   It was a very low humidity day when I folded it. So the paper was pretty crisp. I used ordinary printer paper. Widely spaced twist fold designs such as this almost always work very nicely with standard paper.  Her original model used a larger grid and therefore had more repetition. But my small grid fits the first part of the second iterations. It also still illustrates how to fold the entire pattern regardless of what size grid is used.
